Monkey Run!

Over the weekend, Joe ran his third (I think?) race of the season and Cece participated in her first mud run! Maybe it's the Olympics that has gotten to me, but I felt so very proud of both of them. Joe might as well have been taking a walk in the park instead of doing a 10K obstacle course and Cece didn't get squeamish about the mud or back down from any of the obstacles.

Below are a few photos from the day.

Joe ran the race with Jake, Cece ran with Penny. Emily and I carried all of the stuff around, and Jack and Rosie really enjoyed playing in the mud.

One of the obstacles from the grown-up race. Very Ninja Warrior!

Penny and Cece warming up and stretching pre-race... afterall, no one wants a pulled hammy.

And then they were off! I didn't see them for about a half mile until they got close to the finish line.

She finished strong and got a medal!

Honestly, what can feel better than standing on the podium with your girlfriend?
Congrats again to these awesome little girls! (And congrats to the fellas of course who ran their race and then accompanied the girls for theirs.)

Manly Men

Sorry that there hasn't been oodles of posting this week. Not much has happened that would make for fun blogging (i.e. plumbing woes, runny noses, etc.). BUT Robbyn and Jay have come to visit Joe and me for a long weekend and that is definitely improving our week.

Today, Robbyn and I got to witness our manly men play football. Lately, Joe has recruited a few of his friends and fellow fire classmates to do so on the weekends. This week, Jay participated along with our nephew Matt. They had a lot of fun, and so did Robbyn and I. But we managed to stay far less dirty and sweaty. Are Robbyn and Cece spirited cheerleaders or what? Anyways, that's all for now. More photos to come from this sisterly visit!

Vikes vs. Bears on New Year's Day

To start off the new year, Joe and I had a date-a REAL date! Just the two of us and out of the house. We braved the chilly weather and the crowds to attend the Vikings vs. Bears game at the Metrodome this afternoon. I'm a little ashamed to admit that although I hail from Chicago, this was actually my first Bears game.
To be honest, the game wasn't super exciting since both teams have not had a good season and our seats were pretty high up there. BUT I was reunited with my old lover, the Dome Dog, so that was good enough for me. And the collapsed Metrodome roof is back in tact, so we were nicely shielded from the elements. And it was pretty cool seeing Jared Allen break record for sacks in a season for the Vikings (and so close to the NFL record!).
A BIG thank you to Jake and Emily, our fearless babysitters who took on C Monster in addition to their own three-month-old. Cece was so smiley and chatty when we picked her up that I assume she had a blast wearing them out.
