"Faster, horsie!"

Every time I watch this video, I think "Good God, I love this child!" And then I'm also thankful that we have possibly the most patient dog in existence. Thirdly, I'm thankful that we won't have to purchase a pony in the near future because, apparently, Maya is sufficient for now.

Dog Park Throw-Back

I realize this is a somewhat random post, but with the last post being dog park-related, it still feels right to share.

While trying to organize some of our photo files, I came across these pictures my dad took of Joe and me while he was visiting us circa 2008. At this point, Shelby was a puppy and Joe and I insisted that she stay with us for a week since we were so puppy-crazy. (Idiots.)

Times have certainly a-changed. Shelby is no longer a puppy. I also may have discarded Joe's "Up Yours" shirt. And obviously, much has happened (marriage, baby, house, etc.) But I also think some things aren't going to change. The dogs will always be their happiest drooling selves at the park, and I do believe that we'll always be happiest with each other.

Thanks for these surprise photos and videos, Dad. Even if we have tons of shaky home movies and blurry pictures, they still mean so much to me. I think my developing obsession with documenting our lives through photos and videos is partly rooted in seeing how important it was and is for Dad to capture our family memories as we grew up. So thank you : )

Pretending that snow is still cool

Yesterday we went traipsing around the dog park, trying to convince ourselves that the endless snow isn't that soul-crushing. We brought the sled for Cece, but she was more interested in flinging snow with a stick. So, Joe dragged me around in the sled for a little bit. (Hey, trudging through snow gets tiring.) At least for the dogs, the novelty of winter hasn't worn off yet. As for me, I am near desperate to wear shoes other than my boots and to have pictures with just a little green scenery in them.

Boys and Their Toys

Joe bought himself an early Christmas present, so now we have a UFO flying around our living room (which Diablo hates because he can't catch or eat it). He'll need something to do while C and I are in Chicago next week, and this appears to be it.

The tiniest dog sitter that you ever did see

We are currently dog sitting for Sophie, and Cece couldn't be more enthusiastic about it. She keeps grabbing her shoes and Sophie's leash and insisting we walk her (ALL DAY LONG). I suppose that since we have two dogs that are nearly 60 pounds each, it's quite the novelty to have a tiny dog in the house. Although, between me, Joe, the jogging stroller, and three dogs, we are certainly a sight to see walking around the neighborhood. Joe says we should come complete with a tent, because we are a circus.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Dog Park Season

Now that the season of mud and rain has passed, we can let the dogs enjoy the airport dog park once again. (We just have to make sure that Diablo doesn't tresspass on to any airport runways.) Believe it or not, Maya is going to be six this year. Her age really doesn't show, does it? If you ask Cece "What does puppy say?", she'll reply "OOF OOF!" Needless to say, she likes the park as well.
